Alchemical Hydra Guide

Bosses guide · Updated September 2025

The Alchemical Hydra is Mount Karuulm's four-headed boss - a mechanically layered fight built around dragging the hydra onto the right chemical pool to strip its damage reduction. The teleport lands at 1354, 10262 inside the Karuulm slayer dungeon.

It is a dragon-hunter-lance fight: 95 slayer required, one of the server's more technical bosses, and the drops pay for the effort.

The chemical pools

Four colored pools surround the arena - red, green, blue, black - and each phase of the hydra is resistant to damage unless you lure it onto the matching pool. The phase tells you which: when the hydra's head colour changes, drag it to the pool of the same colour to break the reduction.

Standing on the wrong pool does nothing - the drag-and-position dance is the fight.

Phases

The hydra cycles through its heads as you burn it down, each phase changing attack patterns and the required pool. Ranged hits, magic bolts, and the occasional flame wall all feature; watch the head colour and reposition.

A clean kill runs three to five minutes once the pool dance is muscle memory.

The drops

The drop table runs common supplies plus the hydra-signature rolls - claws, leather, eye/fang/heart pieces for the brimstone ring, and the alchemical hydra heads - all resolved against the GE manifest below.

An honest note on the drops

Check the table below: this server's hydra does not currently carry the OSRS signature drops - no hydra claw, no brimstone ring pieces. The drop table reflects what the server actually awards: the rune-and-supply volume that makes it a steady but unspectacular farm.

Treat it as a mid-tier experience check and a supply source rather than the OSRS-style jackpot boss. If you came for the claw, this is not the farm you wanted - Vorkath, Corp, or the raids are where the big drops actually live.

Still worth the kill

The phase mechanics are the real reward for learning him - the hydra teaches vent-reading and prayer-flick discipline that carries into every harder boss on the server. Farm him for the practice and the supply volume, not the drops.

The four phases

Each head phase has a colour cue: green (poison splashes), blue (electric floor), red (flame wall), and the final black phase (tracking damage). Lure him to the matching vent for the first three phases or his damage output roughly doubles.

The fight is a prayer-flick exam on top: ranged and magic swap mid-phase, so you are switching overheads while positioning for vents. It is the best solo-mechanics training the server offers.

The vent lure

Each phase has a matching vent in the room - lure the hydra onto it and the phase weakness activates, roughly doubling your damage. Miss the lure and you are fighting an armoured version of the same boss.

The vent positions are fixed, so the fight becomes positional after a few kills: stand where the next vent pull is shortest.
