Cerberus Guide

Bosses guide · Updated September 2025

Cerberus is the three-headed hellhound behind the Keymaster's gate - 91 slayer required, and the teleport lands at 1310, 1252 right at the lair door. It is a prayer-flicking fight: each head fires a different style and you rotate protects through the triple-attack.

The crystals that upgrade boots to their BiS variants are the reason everyone learns this fight.

The fight mechanics

Cerberus alternates melee, ranged, and magic in a readable cycle - each attack has a tell and a matching protection prayer. Pray correctly and the damage disappears; miss a switch and you eat the full style.

The fire pools she summons on the floor punish standing still - keep moving between prayer switches, and never let her corner you against the lava.

The souls

Mid-fight she splits into three souls, each charging a different attack style - kill them in order before they fire, or take the stacked hits. The soul phase is the real damage-check: teams that burn souls quickly never see the big hits.

Gear and inventory

  • Protect-from-melee base with fast switches - her melee is the most common.
  • Ranged or melee both work; melee with a defender is comfortable.
  • Restore pots > food: the fight is prayer management, not chip damage.
  • A teleport out - 91 slayer is the gate, not the level check.

The drops

The crystals are the draw: eternal, pegasian, and primordial crystals attach to the infinity, ranger, and dragon boots for their best-in-slot variants. Hellpuppy pet, jar of souls, and the usual supply rolls fill out the table.

The three-headed pattern

Cerberus runs a predictable three-phase rotation: melee attacks, a fire-breath that covers the floor in damaging tiles, and a soul-attack phase where she summons three spirits - each protecting a different style, and each must be prayed against as they converge on you.

The spirits are the exam: read which one is attacking and pray against that style in sequence. Miss the flick and three hits land at once.

Primordial boots and the crystals

The primordial, pegasian, and eternal crystals are the signatures - each upgrades a pair of dragon boots, ranger boots, or infinity boots into the BiS version for its combat style. The crystal drops are rare but the rest of the table keeps the farm profitable between them.

  • Protect-from-melee base; flick for the spirits.
  • A weapon fast enough to hit between spirit waves.
  • Her room is instanced - no interruptions, no help.

The spirit phase timing

The three spirits spawn at fixed health thresholds and each guards one combat style - the order is random per kill. They converge on you slowly, so the play is to pray against the closest spirit first and flick through the sequence as they arrive.

The fire pools she leaves are the positioning hazard - the tiles stay hot for several seconds, so route your spirit-dodging through clean ground.
