Vet'ion Guide

Bosses guide · Updated September 2025

Vet'ion is the skeletal champion at 3187, 3787 - the wildest of the three wildy bosses because he comes back. Kill him once and he respawns in a reborn form with a fresh health bar, hellhound adds running interference the whole time.

The ring of the gods is the signature drop - the prayer-boosting ring - plus the Vet'ion Jr pet.

The two lives

The first kill is the standard fight: a melee-heavy skeleton boss that hits hard but predictably. Kill him, and he explodes into his reborn form - a second full-health version with a new phase.

Hellhounds spawn periodically to harry you - they are the real pressure, because they add up while you are cycling between forms. Clear them between phases.

Strategy

  • Protect-from-melee base - he is a melee boss.
  • Kill the hellhounds between forms or they overwhelm.
  • Plan for two full fights per kill - the reborn form has its own table.
  • Wildy rules apply: looting bag, teleport, nothing you cannot lose.

The drops

Ring of the gods at the top - the BiS prayer ring - plus Vet'ion Jr pet, dragon pickaxe, dragon 2h, and the wilderness supply rolls. Both forms' tables are resolved below.

Gear that survives two lives

Because every kill is really two fights back to back, sustain matters more than speed. A Verac's set or full Barrows armour lets you ignore the hellhound chip damage entirely - the prayer-bypassing set effect also helps since Vet'ion's attacks pray-check you throughout.

Salve amulet is the other edge: Vet'ion is undead, so the salve's accuracy and strength bonus against undead monsters applies to both forms. An (e) enchanted version is worth the quest time if you plan to farm him seriously.

  • Verac's or Torag's for the prayer-piercing tank route.
  • Salve amulet for the undead bonus on both forms.
  • Two full restores per kill - the second form restarts the clock.

Reading the second form

The reborn Vet'ion is not a fresh spawn - it inherits the aggression of a boss that already knows you are there. Expect the hellhound pressure to resume immediately on phase two, and keep your prayer coverage up the whole time.

The fight teaches a general wilderness-boss lesson: the kill is not over when the health bar empties. Treat the death animation as a phase transition, not the end, and you will stop dying to the surprise respawn.

The ring of the gods

The ring of the gods is the prayer bonus ring - the BiS prayer slot for anyone stacking prayer gear, and the Vet'ion Jr pet is one of the best-looking boss pets in the game. Both roll on his standard table.

Because each kill is a two-phase fight, Vet'ion pays out per-hour at roughly half the rate of the other wildy bosses - price your patience accordingly when deciding between him and Callisto or Venenatis.

Timing the hellhounds

The hellhounds spawn on a fixed cadence - roughly every 30 seconds of the fight. A kill that stays ahead of the spawns never gets overwhelmed; a kill that falls behind turns into a crowd fight you cannot win.

This is why the salve amulet matters so much here: faster kills on both forms means fewer hellhound spawns total, which is the whole survival equation.

Session summary

Two phases, one great ring, and a real survival check - Vet'ion is the wildest fight of the three wildy bosses. Farm him for the ring of the gods, accept the slower kill rate, and keep the hellhound count under control.
