Kalphite Queen Guide
Bosses guide · Updated September 2025
The Kalphite Queen is the two-form boss at the bottom of the Kalphite Lair - the teleport lands at 3509, 9487 right inside the lair tunnel. She is the classic intermediate boss: a melee phase followed by a ranged/magic phase that forces a prayer switch.
The dragon chainbody and kalphite pet are the prizes, and the fight is safe enough to farm with mid-tier gear.
Phase one - the kalphite queen
The first form is a melee bruiser that hits hard in close range - protect-from-melee or tank it with defence. She summons kalphite workers as adds; kill them or let them chip, they are not the threat.
Burning through phase one opens the second form - the real fight starts when she sheds the shell.
Phase two - the flying form
The queen transforms into her flying form: now she attacks with ranged and magic, so switch your protection to match whichever style she is using. The phase is harder to sustain because she hits more consistently through defence.
She also uses a stat-drain effect on top of the damage - a restore potion mid-fight pays for itself.
What to bring
- Melee with protect-from-melee for phase one.
- Prayer switches ready for phase two - it is the whole fight.
- Verac's or high-defence melee gear helps absorb the adds.
- Restore + food; the lair is a long walk if you die.
The drops
Dragon chainbody is the signature - plus kalphite head for the achievement diary, the kalphite princess pet, dragon 2h, and the standard supply rolls. Every tradeable drop links to the GE below.
The two forms
The queen has two distinct forms back to back. The first is a grounded melee fighter - protect-from-melee and she is straightforward. The second form takes wing, goes aerial, and swaps to magic and ranged attacks that hit through prayer coverage.
Form two is where unprepared players die: the attack switch is instant, so have your prayer pre-selected for the transition.
The hive and the drops
She sits at the end of the Kalphite Lair at 3509, 9487 - you fight through kalphite workers to reach her chamber. Kalphite adds join the fight periodically; kill them or accept the chip damage.
The dragon chainbody, kalphite queen head, and the kalphite princess pet are the signatures - plus a table of herbs, noted items, and the standard boss-supply volume.
- Two prayer styles ready for the form swap.
- Bring antipoison - the hive is hostile.
- The workers outside are a warm-up, not the boss.
The hive approach
The Kalphite Lair is a two-level hive - workers on the approach, guardians deeper in, the queen at the heart. Antipoison is mandatory for the approach; the workers poison on hit and it stacks through a long run.
Her chamber is a tight room, so the fight is close-quarters by design. Ranged setups work best since they let you step out of melee range for the second form.
