Giant Mole Guide
Bosses guide · Updated September 2025
The Giant Mole is Falador's underground boss - a huge blind burrower that digs away mid-fight and relocates around the lair. The teleport lands at 1764, 5179 right inside the molehill cavern.
It is the gentlest boss on the teleport list: slow hits, no specials, and a fight pattern built around chasing it between dig spots.
The dig-and-chase
The mole fights in melee with big slow hits - protect-from-melee and the damage is trivial. At health thresholds it digs underground and relocates to another corner of the lair, forcing you to follow and re-engage.
The lair is dim - a light source helps tracking it across the room, though the compass keeps you oriented regardless.
Why farm it
The drops are volume: mole skin and mole claws trade to Wyson the gardener for nests - the seed-table bird nests that fletchers and farmers both want. Add the mole slippers and pet baby mole on the rare end and you have a steady, low-risk profit loop.
What to bring
- Melee setup with protect-from-melee - the hits are slow and heavy.
- A light source or good map sense for the digs.
- Spade not needed - this fight does not use the dig mechanic.
- Basic food; it is the starter-friendly boss.
The chase mechanic
When the mole digs, it burrows toward a new corner of the lair and pops up somewhere else. Follow the disturbance on the ground or simply scan the room - the lair is small enough that a dig is never a long search. Re-engage on the new spot and the fight continues where it left off.
The digs do not heal it - the health bar carries over. The fight is a patience test, not a DPS race.
- A weapon with a fast attack speed finishes each phase quicker.
- The mole slippers cosmetic is the lighthearted rare on the table.
- Baby mole pet rolls alongside the standard drops.
Mole skin economics
The skin and claws are the repeatable value: Wyson the gardener in Falador park trades them for bird nests, and the nests hold seeds that farmers and fletchers both want. A mole-skin stack converts to a seed stack, which converts to GE cash through the farming economy.
It is not glamorous, but it is one of the few bosses where the drops are a guaranteed-conversion commodity rather than a rare-roll lottery.
The baby mole
The baby mole pet is the signature rare - a 1/3000-class roll that makes it a long-haul chase. Every kill is also guaranteed value though: the skins and claws convert to nests at a fixed rate, so the mole never feels like a wasted trip.
For a first pet hunt it is a forgiving choice - the fight cannot really kill you, so the only cost is time.
Session summary
The friendliest boss on the list - slow hits, a dig-and-chase gimmick, and guaranteed-value drops through the Wyson nest trade. Perfect first boss for a fresh account.
