The Elder Chaos Druid is the chaos temple boss at 3236, 3636 - a druid in elder chaos robes who serves double duty as a boss and as the wilderness bone-un-noter. The teleport lands at his temple doorstep.

He drops the elder chaos hood, top, and robe - the prayer-boosting set that makes him worth farming beyond the drops.

The fight

He fights with magic - pray magic and he is manageable. A chaos druid add accompanies him; it dies fast.

The un-noting service

Talk to him and he un-notes banknoted bones at 50 coins each - the wilderness chaos-altar loop runs through him. It is why the temple spot matters beyond the boss fight itself.

The hood, top, and robe form the elder chaos set - a three-piece prayer gear line that trades defence for magic and prayer bonuses. It is not BiS for tanking, but it is the lightest prayer-heavy set in the game and the one wildy-riskers wear when they want prayer boosts without expensive gear on the line.

The set works on its own pieces too - the hood alone is a cheap helm slot for anyone building a prayer set on a budget.

Why players keep coming back

Beyond the robes, the druid is the wilderness bone-runner's banker. The chaos altar sits nearby and his 50-coin un-noting service is the conversion that makes the whole loop work - farm him for the robes, then come back for the prayer grind on the chaos altar when the robes are done.

The chaos altar loop

The druid anchors the wilderness chaos-altar prayer grind: the altar nearby offers 3.5x bone XP, and his un-noting service means you run noted bones in, un-note them at 50 gp each, and train at the altar without banking. It is the fastest prayer XP per bone in the wilderness - and the riskiest, since the altar is a PKer magnet.

Farm him for the robes, then use his service for the actual prayer grind - the boss and the utility are the same NPC.

The chaos altar economics

Doing the math on his service: at 50 coins per un-note, a full inventory of dragon bones costs ~1,400 gp to un-note - trivial next to the XP you gain at 3.5x chaos-altar rates. The real cost is risk: carrying noted bones through the wildy is a PKer magnet.

Sensible farmers run small stacks and bank the XP gains between trips rather than hauling a fortune in noted bones across the deep wildy.
