Demonic Gorillas Guide
Bosses guide · Updated September 2025
Demonic Gorillas are the zenyte-farming bosses at the Crash Site Cavern - prayer-switching enemies that punish lazy prayer by adapting to whatever you protect against. The teleport lands at 2026, 5610 inside the cavern.
They are the zenyte jeweller's quarry: shards and jewellery come only from these gorillas, which keeps them permanently valuable.
The prayer-switching mechanic
Each gorilla prays against your attack style - pray against theirs and it switches styles to counter. The fight is a constant read: when your hits start splashing, change your own style, and when its prayer changes, adapt again.
They also drop boulders - a falling-rock AoE that punishes standing still - so repositioning is part of the rhythm.
Fighting them efficiently
The clean approach is tribrid or dual-style: switch between melee and ranged so the gorilla wastes a prayer on whichever you are not using. Black demonic gorillas are the tanky variant; the regular ones die faster.
- Bring two attack styles - the prayer adaptation makes single-style slow.
- Move when boulders drop - the falling rocks hit hard.
- Their own prayer flicking is readable - watch the protect icon.
The drops
Zenyte shards, zenyte jewellery (amulet, ring, necklace, bracelet), ballista components, and light/heavy frame pieces for the gorilla warfare gear - plus the usual supply rolls. Every tradeable drop is GE-linked below.
The zenyte economy
Zenyte shards are the valuable drop - they upgrade onyx jewellery into the zenyte tier: the tormented bracelet, anguish necklace, suffering ring, and ornament amulet that are BiS for magic, ranged, tanking, and all-around use. On this server the shards trade on the GE like any other material.
The jewellery drops directly too - farming gorillas pays out in shards or finished pieces depending on the roll, so every kill is a roll on the same economy either way.
Common mistakes
- Single-style attacking - the prayer adaptation stalls the fight.
- Standing under the boulders - the falling rocks are the main danger.
- Forgetting antipoison - some variants venom on contact.
Gear that handles the swaps
The gorillas reward mechanical skill more than raw stats: a player who reads the prayer swaps kills them twice as fast as one who brute-forces a single style. Treat every kill as practice for the raids, where the same adaptation check appears on a bigger stage.
- Abyssal whip plus a rune crossbow covers both style rotations.
- Karil's or Armadyl for the ranged phase, torso and tassets for melee.
- Antipoison - the jungle is unfriendly.
- Prayer potions; you will be flicking constantly.
The ballista components
Beyond zenyte, the gorillas drop heavy and light ballista frames plus the ballista limbs and spring - the full light ballista assembly for ranged spec builds. It is the secondary market that keeps gorilla farming profitable between zenyte rolls.
The monkey tail is the third notable drop - used in stringing the ballista, and worth picking up rather than leaving on the ground.
