Smithing is a two-stage skill: smelt ore into bars at a furnace, then hammer bars into gear at an anvil. This server runs the real OSRS anvil interface - the native group-312 product grid - so the metal selector and product cells work exactly like the live game.
Furnace work covers blurite and lovakite bars on top of the standard metals, plus cannonballs, jewellery moulds, and the Ring of Forging refund mechanic.
Smelting at the furnace
Carry ore - plus coal where the recipe calls for it - to any furnace and the product menu offers the bars you qualify for. The bar table runs bronze through runite plus blurite (level 8) and lovakite (level 45, needs 2 coal per bar). Goldsmith gauntlets multiply gold-bar XP by 2.5x, the best smithing XP in the game.
A coal bag (item 12019) holds 27 coal - +9 with the smithing cape - and smelting draws bag coal first, which cuts inventory trips in half on steel and up.
Anvil smithing
Bring a hammer (or dragon warhammer) and bars to any anvil - the object name matches, so every smithing station works - and the native interface opens with a metal selector driven by the real varbit. Product cells line up exactly like OSRS: daggers, axes, maces, bolts, limbs, javelin heads, and the seven piece sets.
Six products the old grid dropped are restored: bronze wire, the oil lantern frame, iron spit, bullseye lantern, steel studs, and the mith grapple tip. Lovakite bars make the Shayzien supply armour line - 25 pieces across five tiers.
- Blurite has no native slot - it routes through a creation menu for bolts and limbs.
- The X-button quantity prompt is server-side, so custom amounts work.
- Cannonballs stay furnace-only - ammo mould, 2 steel to 4 balls.
Ring of Forging and coal bag
Wear a Ring of Forging and every smith action on multi-bar items has a 20% chance to refund one bar - charges burn by metal tier and the ring shatters at 60 spent. It is the standard pre-99 money-saver.
The coal bag fills from the bank or inventory, opens for withdrawal inside the furnace menu, and banks coal deposits divert back into the bag automatically.
Training routes
- Gold bars with gauntlets - fastest XP per hour by a wide margin.
- Steel smithing for GP: cannonballs, platebodies, bolt tips.
- Lovakite → Shayzien armour - uses real bars, sells to collectors.
- Addy/rune items at the top - dart tips and limbs are always in demand.
Smithing cape perk
The smithing skillcape adds +9 coal to your coal bag (36 total) - the only perk, but it compounds nicely with the bag-first smelting path. Max capes inherit it.
The furnace economy
Smithing converts mining's ore into the armour and weapons melee players buy. The blast furnace on Keldagrim halves the coal cost and speeds the run - the efficient route for bulk bar production.
Dart tips, arrowheads, and bolt tips are the niche outputs - small items, but the fletchers buy them by the thousand.
