How the Grand Exchange Works
Server guide · Updated September 2025
The Grand Exchange is a live player-to-player market inside the Edgeville safe zone. Instead of standing around spamming "selling whip," you place an offer - a price and a quantity - and the exchange matches you against everyone else's offers automatically.
This site exists because the market is real enough to track. We pull live OSRS Grand Exchange prices, graph them per item, and compute the numbers a trader actually cares about: margins, buy-limit headroom, alchemy floors, and recent price swings.
Placing an offer
Open the Grand Exchange booth at home and you get the native exchange interface: a grid of offer slots. Pick an empty slot, choose buy or sell, search for the item, set your price and quantity, and confirm. Sell offers take the item from your inventory; buy offers take the coins.
Offers complete asynchronously - you can walk off and train while the market fills them. Collect coins or items back from the same interface. Like OSRS, there is a limit to how many of a single item you can buy in a window, and every item page on this site shows that buy limit alongside the price.
Reading the numbers
Every item page on this site shows the numbers that decide whether a trade is worth doing. Buy price is roughly what you can purchase for right now; sell price is what buyers are paying. The gap between them is the margin - the flipper's raw material - and after the exchange tax is deducted, what remains is your real profit.
Volume matters as much as margin. A 5% spread on an item that trades forty times a day is dead money; a 1% spread on a 50,000-a-day item is a machine. Each page shows 24-hour volume and the GP value traded so you can tell liquid items from furniture before you commit.
| Term | What it means | Where to see it |
|---|---|---|
| Margin | Sell price minus buy price, before tax | Item page market snapshot |
| ROI | Margin as a percentage of your buy-in | Item page market snapshot |
| GE tax | Fee taken from completed sales | Alch and flip tools |
| Buy limit | Max quantity purchasable per window | Item facts table |
| Volume | Units traded in the last 24 hours | Item page + movers tool |
Tools on this site
The reverse is also wired in other direction: boss guides list real drop tables with every tradeable drop linked to its GE page, so a kill you are about to farm can be priced before you teleport.
- Alchemy table - every item sorted by high-alch profit after the nature rune cost; dead money finds itself.
- Movers - the biggest gainers and losers from the live stats feed, split by timeframe.
- Flip calculator - enter buy price, sell price, and quantity to get tax, net profit, and ROI instantly.
- Watchlist - star items and get a personal board of their live prices.
- Per-item pages - price, history charts, alch math, buy limits, and which bosses drop the item.
A word of caution
Prices on this site mirror the OSRS market feed. They are a strong guide to relative value but in-server prices are set by the players on this server - a small market can sit permanently above or below the OSRS quote. Treat the numbers as research, not a guarantee, and watch the actual completed offers on the exchange itself before you bulk-flip.
