Crafting Guide
Skills guide · Updated September 2025
Crafting is the make-it-yourself skill - leatherwork, pottery, glassblowing, jewellery, battlestaves, and the odd utility item that feeds a dozen other skills. On a server where the GE exists, it is also the reliable money-printer: dragonhide bodies and battlestaves are always in demand.
There are five distinct crafting stations across the map and a guild that gates the good ones.
The five crafting disciplines
Sewing is needle-and-thread work: leather pieces, hardleather, spiky vambraces, coifs and studded leather, all four dragonhide sets, snakeskin, yak-hide, and the crab helmet - 31 products across 11 material types. The needle breaks one in thirty times and eats a thread reel every five items.
Pottery is a three-step cycle: soften clay with water, shape it on a potter's wheel, then fire it in a pottery oven. The soft-clay item is useful to other crafters; the fired products are mostly alch fodder but steady XP.
Glassblowing needs a glassblowing pipe and molten glass - eight products including beer glasses, oil lamps, vials, and orbs. Molten glass comes from sand + seaweed/soda ash at a furnace.
Spinning wheels convert wool to balls, flax to bowstrings, hair to rope, sinew to crossbow string, and magic roots to magic string - the materials fletchers consume constantly.
Amulets and battlestaves are the money crafts: string a cut-gem amulet with a ball of wool, or attach an elemental orb to a battlestaff for the elemental staves that sell on the GE.
The Crafting Guild
The guild door at 2933, 3289 requires level 40 Crafting plus a brown or golden apron - or a crafting skillcape / max cape, which also unlocks a direct teleport inside. Once you are in, the guild stocks every station type in one building and a bank chest beside them.
Training routes
- Leather/dhide sewing - steady XP, product sells on the GE.
- Gem cutting - amethyst tips, bolt tips, arrowtips with a chisel.
- Battlestaves - orb + staff on an elemental altar (also RC XP).
- Jewellery - gold/silver moulds at the furnace.
- Pottery for the low-cost early levels.
Crafting cape perk
The crafting skillcape teleports you directly into the Crafting Guild - the only teleport that bypasses the door requirement entirely. Any max-cape variant inherits it.
The jewellery and armour loop
Crafting is the utility skill that converts raw materials into the gear everyone actually wears: dragonhide bodies, battlestaffs, jewellery, and the amulets and rings that fill every gear slot. On the GE the finished goods consistently out-price their materials.
The profitable route is the dhide-body line: buy dragonhides cheap, tan and sew them into bodies, sell to the rangers levelling their defence.
Training methods
- Cut gems for the fast early levels.
- Tan and sew dragonhide for the profitable mid-levels.
- Battlestaffs and jewellery for the end-game grind.
The gem and hide routes
Cutting gems is the fast route - sapphires through dragonstones, each tier more XP and more loss. The dhide-body route is the profitable one: buy tanned hides, sew bodies, sell to rangers.
Battlestaffs at high level are the mid-money maker - a crafted battlestaff sells to the same mages buying them for rune-saving.
