The adamant crossbow is a one-handed ranged weapon requiring 46 Ranged to wield, stronger and more accurate than the mithril crossbow but weaker than the rune crossbow. It fires bolts up to adamant and is a common mid-tier crossbow for players training Ranged before they can afford the rune or Armadyl versions. Because it can be made from an unstrung crossbow with crossbow string, its price is usually close to the material cost. The adamant crossbow is a reliable, budget-friendly choice for mid-level Slayer and PvM. It is a reliable mid-tier crossbow that carries players through much of the mid-game before rune or enchanted crossbow upgrades.
